EFFINGHAM, Ill. -- Janet Elaine Haack Brinkopf, 66, of Effingham passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, Illinois. Janet was born on Oct. 17, 1954, in Dieterich, Illinois, the daughter of Alvin and Dorothy Proefrock Haack. She married Robert Brinkopf of Cape Girardeau on May 31, 1975...

EFFINGHAM, Ill. -- Janet Elaine Haack Brinkopf, 66, of Effingham passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, Illinois.

Janet was born on Oct. 17, 1954, in Dieterich, Illinois, the daughter of Alvin and Dorothy Proefrock Haack. She married Robert Brinkopf of Cape Girardeau on May 31, 1975.

Janet was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham where she was a member of the bell choir and Board of Social Ministry and led a quilting group that made quilts for world relief. She loved her birds and flowers. She enjoyed quilting, baking, traveling, but most of all being with family, including her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Janet is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bob Brinkopf; children, Jeffrey (Allison) Brinkopf of St. Peters, Missouri, David (Elesha) Brinkopf of Neoga, Illinois, and Libby (Rick) Dasenbrock of Effingham; grandchildren, McKenzie, Olivia, Leighton, Abigail, Emiel, Jackson, Hope and Colton; great-grandson, Jordan; and sisters, Nancy (Tom) Marrs of Conifer, Colorado, and Linda (Mark) Kissel of Evergreen, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham.

Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Mike Burdick officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Effingham.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Food Pantry or the Lutheran Care Center.

Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.
