CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Mary June Simmons of Chaffee, daughter of the late Rev. Watis Harrell and Pauline Chance, was born Feb. 23, 1942, in Brownwood, Missouri, and departed this life Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at the Hunter Acres Nursing home in Sikeston, Missouri, at the age of 79 years.

She was a member of the Assembly of God church in Chaffee. She loved to cook, was very active in her church, never met a stranger and was an all-around loving person.

On Jan. 21, 1960, she married Charles Franklin Simmons in Chaffee. He preceded her in death Oct. 7, 1992.

Mary is survived by a son, Timothy (Sandra) Simmons of Kelso, Missouri; two daughters, Tana (James) Crapnell of Cleveland, Texas, and Tara Simmons of Las Vegas, Nevada; three sisters, Velma Watcher of Saint Clair, Missouri; Rosetta Kinder of Scott City; and Sandy (Fred) Mauer of Mount Vernon, Illinois; brother, Fred (Pam) Harrell of Chaffee; grandson, Chase Simmons; four granddaughters, Katessa Dame, Lachelle Bucher, Brittany Blankenship and Keri Blankenship; and five great-grandchildren.

Apart from her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Terry Simmons.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Joseph Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at the Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
