Heaven opened its gates Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, to Edith Randol Adams. She was 100 years old when she passed away at The Villas of Jackson. She was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Randolph County, Arkansas, to Thomas Edgar and Rosie Uzzle Foster. Edith and Silas F. Randol were married June 26, 1938. He preceded her in death Feb. 5, 1985. She then married Ben M. Adams on May 7, 1988. He preceded her in death July 2, 2017...

Heaven opened its gates Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021, to Edith Randol Adams. She was 100 years old when she passed away at The Villas of Jackson.

She was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Randolph County, Arkansas, to Thomas Edgar and Rosie Uzzle Foster. Edith and Silas F. Randol were married June 26, 1938. He preceded her in death Feb. 5, 1985. She then married Ben M. Adams on May 7, 1988. He preceded her in death July 2, 2017.

She worked at J.C. Penney for 17 years, retiring in the early 1980s. Prior to working at J.C. Penney, she worked at Mr. C's IGA.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Maxine L. Abernathy of Oran, Missouri; Rose E. Isaacs and Sally A. Thurlkill, both of Cape Girardeau; and Connie S. (Rex Grossman) Randol and Sherri L. (Scott) Summers, both of Osgood, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Pam (Rick) Eftink, Cheryl Altrogge, Scott R. Isaacs, Lori A. Mosley, Billy (Mary Kay) Thurlkill, Christine (John) Dillingham, Adam (Holly) Machado and Eric (Laura) Machado; 13 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two brothers, Thomas E. and James D. Foster; a sister, Mildred Hitt; three sons-in-law, Jim Abernathy, Sammy Isaacs and Billy Ray Thurlkill; and a granddaughter, Melissa Presson.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Morley, Missouri.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
