Doris Hagedorn

Doris Louise Cauble Hagedorn, 85, of Cape Girardeau joined her husband, Richard, in heaven, with her children and grandchildren at her side Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born Sept. 24, 1936, in Cape Girardeau to the late Charles and Louise Cauble.

Doris graduated from College High School in 1954. She then studied at Southeast Missouri State University. Doris was an owner and office manager of Cauble and Field Wholesale Grocery and Produce, until her retirement.

Doris and Richard Martin Hagedorn were united in marriage Oct. 27, 1956, at St. Mary's Cathedral. They were married for 65 years.

Doris was a devout member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Above all, Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She never missed any of their numerous activities, enthusiastically cheering them on.

Doris loved traveling with her family and cherishing those special times at Kentucky Lake. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and dancing with her husband. She always made sure family gatherings and holidays were special. These memories will be cherished by her family forever.

Doris was a very thoughtful and caring person. She was always the first to arrive with a personally chosen gift for a new baby, birthday or any special occasion. She found great joy in making others happy.

Doris is survived by her sons, Rick (Kim) Hagedorn of Cape Girardeau and Ryan (Amy) Hagedorn of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri; her grandchildren, Mark (Rachel) Hagedorn, Megan (Chuck) Fisher and Blake (Sydney) Hagedorn and Lauren, Jacob and Luke Hagedorn; as well as her great-grandchildren, Landon and Addison Fisher and Isla Hagedorn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents; sister, Mary Alice Hale; and brothers, Charles Robert and William Scott Cauble.

Visitation, along with her husband, will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, followed by a funeral Mass. Father Rick Jones will officiate. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Notre Dame Regional High School, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or Southeast Cancer Center.
