Ann had a passion for sewing. She sewed for her family and everyone in the neighborhood, everything from Halloween costumes for her grandkids to prom dresses and other projects. Ann loved her family more than anything. She took enough pictures to last them a lifetime, capturing every childhood and memory of her beloved children and family. She was an amazing cook, especially her biscuits and gravy. She always had a smile and joke tucked away to get others to laugh. She always helped others in need. Whether it was a meal or sewing, you could count on her.

Ann was the oldest daughter in her family, including 15 other siblings. Those who preceded her in death were brothers Andrew Schaefer, Zeno "Sammy" Schaefer and C.L. "Butch" Schaefer and sister Teresa Schaefer. She has two surviving brothers, Marcus Schaefer of Benton, Missouri, and Lawrence Schaefer of Collinsville, Illinois; and nine sisters, Edna Crosswhite of Glasgow, Missouri; Xaveria "Fat" Sturm of Gordonville; Barbara Meyers of Marble Hill, Missouri; Valeria "Skeeter" Sanchez; Darleen Laton of North Carolina; Marion Wyatt of Marble Hill; Cindy King of Chaffee, Missouri; Kathy Laws of Cape Girardeau; and Karla Schaefer of Gordonville.
