Mary Marcella Holdiness, 70, daughter of the late Paul and Izella Lewis Harty, was born Oct. 10, 1951, in Cape Girardeau and was promoted to glory surrounded by her family Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at her home.

On Sept. 11, 1971, she married Ronald Lynn Holdiness Sr. in Jackson. He survives.

Mary loved to crochet, do puzzles, play board games and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Also surviving are sons, Ronald (Theresa) Holdiness Jr. of Chaffee, Missouri, and William (Dawn) Holdiness of Scott City; two brothers, Gordon (Pam) Harty of St. Peters, Missouri, and Gary (Kathy) Harty of Easton, Pennsylvania; four daughters, Elieen (Gary) LaFary of Bushnell, Illinois; Phyllis McGuire of Winchester, Illinois; and Paulette (Lyle) Johnston and Ramona Harty, both of Jackson; nine grandchildren, Sierra, Chelsea, Haley, Brandon, James, Gunner, Riley, Joshua and Katey; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Apart from her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Harty Jr. and Jack Harty.

There will be a memorial visitation from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 18 at Scott City First in Scott City.

Memorial service will follow at noon in the church with the Rev. Larry Rouse officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
