Wanda Lou Rhymer, 89, daughter of the late Lester Lowell Russom and Lola Mae Simmons, was born Jan. 29, 1932, in Steele, Missouri, and departed this life Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was united in marriage to William Rollie Rhymer. He preceded her in death.

Wanda was a resident of Scott City and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Scott City. Wanda's passion in life was to take care of her grandchildren. There was nothing she loved more than playing card games, camping, scaring her grandchildren, and walking at the mall with her siblings and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney (late Geralyn) Rhymer of Scott City and Randy (Sheila) Rhymer of Jackson; daughter, Pamela (late Dale) Underwood of Cape Girardeau; stepson, Terry (late Sharon) Rhymer of Plaquemine, Louisiana; brother, Jimmy (Sharon) Russom of Delta; three sisters, Dolores (late Doug) Scott, Linda (Steve) Stevens and Brenda (Bill) Morris, all of Scott City; 10 grandchildren, Brooke (Alex) Simmons, Katie (Trey) Wallace, Kyle Rhymer, Adrienne Underwood, Travis Underwood, Jamie Kiefer, Blake (Shea) Popp, Mark Rhymer, Scott Rhymer and Matt Rhymer; and nine great-grandchildren, Beckett, Elliot, Layn, baby Wallace, Evan, Owen, London, Sydney and Kaleb.

Besides her husband and parents, Wanda was preceded in death by a brother, Junior (late Addie Mae) Russom, and by sister, Norma (late Lyndy) Gentry.

Friends may call from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Thursday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City.

Funeral service will then be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday with Wavis Jordon officiating. Interment will follow in the Lightner Cemetery.
