Surrounded by her loving family, Mary Ann Stovall Smith, 79, went to be with the Lord Friday, Jan. 21, 2022.

She was born May 26, 1942, in Crump to Lender Washington and Thelma Estelle Greenlee Stovall. She and Jasper "J.D." Smith were united in marriage on Sept. 17, 1960. He passed away Sept. 10, 2021.

Mary was a very dedicated and loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She helped her husband pastor the Grace Full Gospel Log Church in Advance, Missouri, where she was a member until her death.

She loved to read her Bible, needle point, crafting, help others and spend time with her family and friends. She was a very special woman to a lot of people and will be greatly missed.

Loving survivors include her eight children, Julie Smith, Joan Stotts, Jane (Mike) Cato, Joy (Butch) Shirrell, Jed (Stacey) Smith, all of Advance; Joe (Debbie) Smith of St. Charles, Missouri; Jim Smith of Bell City, Missouri; and Jared (Maree) Smith of Chaffee, Missouri; a sister, Della McLain of Jackson; and a brother, Earl Stovall of Cape Girardeau.

Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, Dwight, John and James Stotts, Adam and Zach Cato, David Phillips, Michael, Jordan and Ryan Smith, Aaron, Katie and Evan Smith, Austin and Maddison Smith, Jennifer G. and Chelsea Cano, Sierra Shirrell, Natalie Lawson, Jasper Smith, Ava and Brylee Bowling; and nine great-grandchildren, Dax, Peyton and Paisley Cato, Jace Phillips, Maddox Smith, Aaden Adams, Finn Brown, Mavis Smith and Renelynn Lawson, and one on the way.

Mary was welcomed into heaven by her husband, a child, a grandchild, five great-grandchildren, her parents and many more family and friends.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Saturday at Grace Full Gospel Log Church at 407 N. Ruth St., in Advance.

The Rev. Matt Craft and Rev. Joe Smith -- Mary's son -- will officiate the funeral at 2 p.m., at the church.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Grace Full Gospel Log Church or Southeast Hospice.

Arrangements are by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
