Ronald Burger

Ronald Louis Burger, 79, of Scott City died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 22, 1942, in Cape Girardeau to Louis Charles and Anna Marie Enderle Burger. He married Karen Sue Throop on July 6, 1963.

Ron was a farmer and feed lot salesman, a Realtor and auctioneer.

He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Missouri, St. Augustine Men's Club, Missouri and National Pork Producers, Knights of Columbus Council No. 6420 and St. Joseph 4th Degree Assembly 2283. He was a lifetime 4H leader and a swine director for 4H at the SEMO District Fair. He donated his time as auctioneer of St. Augustine Dinner Auction for 25 years. He served in the National Guard.

Ron is survived by his wife, Karen; two sons, Scott Burger of Scott City and Adam (Melissa) Burger of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Tamara (Chris) Crider of Scott City; eight grandchildren, Libby (Ben Clark) Burger, Becky (Dakota) Nelson, Madison Burger, Catie and Cora Campbell, Caitlyn Cotner, Zach (Chelsi) Cotner and Andrew "AJ" Hayden; and five great-grandchildren, Adalynn Nelson, Joshua, Ryliegh and Zoey Stevens and Zaylen Cotner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father- and mother-in-law, Carl and Virgie Throop; and a brother, Charles Burger.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. KC service will be at 7 p.m. Monday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, with the Rev. Mark Binder as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Safe House of Southeast Missouri or American Cancer Society.
