Bernice Scharenborg, 84, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2021, at Monticello House in Jackson.

Bernice was born April 27, 1937, in Breckenridge, Texas, to Ray and Florence Reverly Carroll. She and Everett James Scharenborg married July 10, 1956, in Jackson. They had been married nearly 61 years, when Everett passed away July 2, 2017.

Bernice worked at Mac's Diner, Lenco and 7-11, all in Jackson. After retirement, she assisted Everett in his print shop. After they sold the business, Bernice worked as a greeter at Walmart in Jackson.

She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and assisted with the youth group.

She is survived by a son, Stephen (Kathleen) Scharenborg of Little Rock, Arkansas; two daughters, Sherry Boedeker of East Quogue, New York, and Kimberly (Bob) Bonney of Jackson; and Everett's siblings, John (Kathryn) Scharenborg, Joseph Scharenborg and Betty Scharenborg, all of Sunset Hills, Missouri, and Mary Helen Schuermann of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bernice was preceded in death by Everett's siblings, Eleanor, Jerome, Wilfred and Martin Scharenborg.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to service time Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

A memorial service will be follow at 7 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating.

At a later date, Bernice will be laid to rest privately with Everett at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
