Ed was an avid cruise-goer and enjoyed collecting stamps and coins. He loved being outdoors and was fond of fishing, walking, gardening and dancing. He was a passionate recycler and enjoyed iced coffee long before you could find it in a coffee shop.

Ed met Angelina Salter, a nurse, on a cruise ship in 1999. They were married on Valentine's Day 2007. Ed and Angie -- also widowed -- felt blessed to have found such great love later in life. Visiting Metropolis, Illinois, Cape Girardeau and Tunica, Mississippi, became some of their favorite pastimes. Even in his last days, Ed savored his home-grown tomatoes. He and Angie attended Miner Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri.

Ed was predeceased by his parents; three younger brothers; wife, Bonnie; daughters, Rose and Nancy; granddaughter, Kimberly; and grandson, Joshua.

He is survived by his wife and soul-mate. Angie; his younger siblings, Bob (Mary) York of Glen Allen, Missouri, and Myrna (Earl) Cheek of Morley, Missouri; daughters, Debbie and Linda; son, Keith; two nieces, seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; a stepson, Robert; a stepdaughter, Georgina; 10 stepgrandchildren and 15 great-stepgrandchildren. He loved them all. He is loved and will be missed.

As Ed often said, "It's a beautiful day in the valley." May we all be as blessed as he to enjoy life to the fullest!

Services will be at noon Friday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
