ANNISTON, Mo. -- Doris E. Wheatley, 86, of Anniston died Friday, April 22, 2022, at Bertrand (Missouri) Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 10, 1935, at Anniston to the late John and Pearl Dodge Combs. On Dec. 4, 1950, she married Irvin Wheatley, who preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1995.
Doris was a homemaker and lived in the area her whole life. She attended the First Christian Church in Anniston. Doris loved quilting, fishing and fighting the squirrels for her pecans.
She is survived by her son, Dale (Tammy) Wheatley of Jackson; sister, Helen Garrett of Sweet Home, Texas; granddaughter, Beth Wheatley of Francesville, Indiana; and her partner in crime, who was like a sister, Margie Ahlfield.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Missouri. Martin Lucas will officiate.
Interment will follow at East Prairie (Missouri) Memorial Park Cemetery.
