Phyllis J. Yonge, 90, of Cape Girardeau entered Heaven Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born Jan. 25, 1932, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Philip and Marjorie Tompkins Stoll. She married Donald Yonge on Sept. 2, 1954. They lived in Michigan until his retirement and then lived in Florida until his passing in 2005.
Phyllis then moved to Cape Girardeau to be near her sister and brother-in-law. After she moved here, she found a little apartment, purchased a car and began living a whole new life.
Her hobbies became making friends, thrift store shopping and always helping others. She loved going places with her companion and special friend, Stan Sullivan.
Phyllis never wanted for anything. The friends she had here were so many that names won't be given, but you all know who you were and what you did, and what she did for so many of you.
She is survived by three sons, Larry Yonge of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Mark (the late Jody) Yonge Sr. of Defiance, Ohio, and Mike (Colleen) Yonge of Three Rivers, Michigan; grandchildren, Chris Yonge, Rachel Yonge (Michael Wright), Matthew James, Janae Yonge Brookens, Audry Yonge (Shell) Enns and Elisa Yonge (Joey) Schreibel; great-grandchildren, Chad, Alexis, Anjulene, Autum, Aryiana, Somer, Kileigh, Jordyn and Kayelani Yonge, Bryce and Brynly Brookens and Wilder Enns; great-great-grandchildren, Mileigh and Maestro; sister, Sue (Chuck) Denson; nieces and nephews, Phil Denson, Ann (Juan) Sanchez, Mike (Debbie) Denson, Boyd (Sara) Denson and Donna Denson; great-nieces and -nephews, Mindy, Jody, Charlee, Aaron, Hanna, Samuel and Gideon, and all their little ones.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; brother, Fred Stoll; grandson, Mark Yonge Jr.; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to her loving and caring companion, Stan Sullivan, and to her many friends. You all made a lasting impact on her life.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, where she will be laid to rest at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford and Sons Funeral Home.
