LaVerne E. Puchbauer, 93, of Jackson passed away Monday, May 2, 2022, at Villas Memory Care in Jackson. She was born Jan. 2, 1929, in Pocahontas to Henry and Mabel Swan Lichtenegger. LaVerne was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she and Floyd Puchbauer were married May 15, 1949. They had been married 50 years when Floyd passed away Oct. 26, 1999...

LaVerne E. Puchbauer, 93, of Jackson passed away Monday, May 2, 2022, at Villas Memory Care in Jackson.

She was born Jan. 2, 1929, in Pocahontas to Henry and Mabel Swan Lichtenegger.

LaVerne was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she and Floyd Puchbauer were married May 15, 1949. They had been married 50 years when Floyd passed away Oct. 26, 1999.

Prior to marriage, LaVerne was employed at the Cape Girardeau County Recorder's Office. After her marriage, she and Floyd farmed the Puchbauer family farm near Oak Ridge.

LaVerne served as an election judge and a 4-H project leader. She was also very faithful to her church, serving as church secretary for 20 years, teaching Sunday school and vacation bible school, playing the organ, and singing in the choir.

LaVerne is survived by four children, Beverly (Dennis) Hemmann of Oak Ridge, Kent (Jean) Puchbauer, Matthew Puchbauer and Mark (Gaye) Puchbauer, all of Jackson; son-in-law, David (Monica) Thomas of Oak Ridge; sister, Arlysse Schoen Popp of Oak Ridge; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Melinda) Hemmann, Aaron (Brittany) Puchbauer, Jeremy (Jenna) Hemmann, Brett (Amanda) Thomas, Andrew (Kelly) Puchbauer, Ethan Puchbauer, April (Shane) Brumfield, Laura (Jeremie) Nothdurft, Kia (Austin) Morrison and Leah Puchbauer; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Holly Thomas; daughter-in-law, Nancy Puchbauer; and three siblings, Charles Lichtenegger, Harvey Lichtenegger and Violet Johnson.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas.

The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Steven Theiss officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. John's Lutheran Church Altar Paraments Fund or Crown Hospice.
