Virginia Lee "Jen" Girard, 75, of Oak Ridge passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at her home.

She was born July 27, 1946, in Cape Girardeau to August Henry and Emma Elizabeth Long Ahrens. She and James Girard were married Dec. 26, 1971. He preceded her in death June 28, 1994.

Virginia was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim. She formerly worked at Flossie's Cafe and later operated a day care from her home. She enjoyed bingo, quilting and scrap booking.

Virginia is survived by two sons, Jeff Ahrens and Jamie (Casey Kennedy) Girard, both of Oak Ridge; four grandchildren, Alex Ahrens, Isabelle Girard, Dakota Girard and Kally Hubbard; sister, Inez Hobeck of Jackson; four sisters-in-law, Laverne (the late George) Ahrens of Oak Ridge, Shelby (the late Paul) Ahrens of Friedheim, Peggy (the late Robert "R.C.") Ahrens of Friedheim and Helen (the late Harold) Girard of Marshall, Missouri.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Joe Girard; sister, Mary Crites; and three brothers, Paul Ray, George and Robert "R.C." Ahrens.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to a church or charity of the donor's choice.
