Evelyn R. Blocker, 88, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Jan. 6, 1934, to Martin and Edith Smith Fornkohl in Egypt Mills. Evelyn married Tilmon Blocker on March 18, 1961, and he preceded her in death Jan. 29, 2008.
Evelyn worked as a cook for Saint Francis Medical Center. She was a wonderful cook and loved to cook meals for her family. One of her favorite hobbies was gardening, and she loved taking care of her yard.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. Evelyn was also a huge Roy Rogers fan.
Survivors include her daughter, Edith (Edie) Lowes of Cape Girardeau; nephew, Charles Wayne Edmundson of Cape Girardeau; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her husband, Tilmon, she was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Victoria Ruth Lowes; three sisters and three brothers.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorials may be made to Victoria Lowes Scholarship for the Love of Science.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cape Girardeau.
