Louis Joseph Braun Jr., 97, of Scott City died Monday, May 9, 2022, at his home. He was born Feb. 28, 1925, in Covington, Louisiana, to Louis Joseph and Alice Sophie Dunn Braun Sr. He married Evelyn Maria Mirgaux on Feb. 9, 1946. Louis worked for Marquette Cement Company. Louis Joseph Braun Jr., 97, of Scott City died Monday, May 9, 2022, at his home.

He was born Feb. 28, 1925, in Covington, Louisiana, to Louis Joseph and Alice Sophie Dunn Braun Sr. He married Evelyn Maria Mirgaux on Feb. 9, 1946.

Louis worked for Marquette Cement Company. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, the VFW in Scott City, the men's club of his church and St. Joseph School Board.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Scott City; two sons, Michael (Rhonda) Braun and John (Donna) Braun of Scott City; two daughters, Alice Braun of Scott City and Anita (Jim) Uelsmann of Benton, Missouri; a brother, John (Lynell) Braun of Pearl River, Louisiana; a sister, Shirley Manton of Folsom, Louisiana; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Larry Dumey; a grandson, Darryl Dumey; and a sister, Leola Zimmer.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will be in the church cemetery.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
