Harold J. Werner, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Cape Girardeau to Martin and Leona Schaefer Werner. He and Yvonne Burger Werner were married Aug. 7, 1955, in Benton, Missouri.

Harold served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean conflict, and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and retired from Missouri State Highway Department. He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Elks, VFW and American Legion, and a past member of the Exchange Club.

Survivors include his wife and son, H.J. Werner Jr., both of Cape Girardeau; and two sisters-in-laws, Nadine Davis and Gerry Fisher, both of Cape Girardeau.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Niemeier.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Braun officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions can be given to the American Heart Association or St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
