Irma Jean Dinwiddie, 95, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at her home.

She was born March 15, 1927, to Thurston and Nellie Miller Amick of rural Glasgow, Missouri. She and Donald Dinwiddie were married March 15, 1950, after he graduated from Central Methodist College. He proceeded her in death Feb. 19, 2005.

Growing up, she was very active in the 4-H Club, excelling in dressmaking, winning county and district awards. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1945. She then attended Chillicothe Missouri Business College.

She was a member of Abbey Road Christian Church since 1962. She helped with Meals on Wheels and worked as a volunteer at Southeast Hospital. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a local AARP.

After her husband's retirement, they spent time traveling, enjoying a cruise, concerts and many fishing trips. She enjoyed reading, listening to music and watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and the Kansas City Chiefs football team. Visiting with her family was her favorite pastime, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Jean (Terry) Irwin of Gordonville and Kim Diane (Dr. Jack) Gillam of Salina, Kansas; grandchildren, Marcus (Dr. Karen Mulfort) Stephens, Brooke (Bob) Abernathy, Lindsay Adams, Heather (Nathen) Shirrell, Maggie (Darin Bernhardt) Gillam and John Gillam (fiancee Cara Lauber); and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, George Amick.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Elaine Schoepf officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Abbey Road Christian Church.
