Carolyn Green Hughes, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at her home. She was born Aug. 8, 1944, in Cape Girardeau to Elba M. and Daisy V. Dorsey Wilkinson. She married the late Jerry R. Hughes in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of First General Baptist Church. She worked at the state highway department, Delta Asphalt, and then retired from Coastal Bridge in Louisiana...

Carolyn Green Hughes, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at her home.

She was born Aug. 8, 1944, in Cape Girardeau to Elba M. and Daisy V. Dorsey Wilkinson. She married the late Jerry R. Hughes in Cape Girardeau.

She was a member of First General Baptist Church. She worked at the state highway department, Delta Asphalt, and then retired from Coastal Bridge in Louisiana.

Carolyn is now in heaven with her love, Jerry. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and sisters were the light of her life. Carolyn loved having her two dogs, Jake and Annie. She has touched the lives of so many people. Carolyn will truly be missed and will never be forgotten.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela (John) Green Myers of Cape Girardeau and Tori (Michael) Pobst of Oran, Missouri; two sisters, Winnis (Mitchell) Givens of Cape Girardeau and Brenda (Rick) Bowman of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Jimmy (Lacie) Griffaw, Clayton (Lindsay) Myers, Jami (Cameron) Lacy and Jayden (Lauren) Pobst; 10 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Houston, Haven and Holden Griffaw, Olivia Wagoner, Bryson, Blakely and Kannon Pobst and Caige and Casen Lacy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and three brothers.

A memorial tribute will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at First General Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Inurnment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to SEMO Pets or First General Baptist Church.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
