Carmen Louise Robertson, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Chateau Girardeau.

She was born July 5, 1930, in Marble Hill, Missouri, to Ora T. and Beulah Baker Tallent. She and Hal F. Robertson were married in September 1950. He preceded her in death in 2003.

Carmen received a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University.

She taught freshman/sophomore English and history for the Dexter and Sikeston, Missouri, school districts. She was a member of Sikeston Library Board, a candy striper for Missouri Delta Community Hospital and a Brownie Scout leader. She was a member of Kingshighway Chapter of Sikeston Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sikeston Jaycee Wives and PEO.

Carmen loved hosting gatherings for family and friends, reading and cooking. She also took great joy in birds, butterflies and the flowers that attracted them. After moving from Sikeston in 2003, she led a small group of women who established the Certified Butterfly Garden in Chateau Girardeau's assisted living courtyard.

She spent extended time over 30 years enjoying the people and culture of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, as a part-time resident.

Survivors include one daughter, Tory (Ted) Robertson-Susac; four brothers, Carson (Anne) Tallent, Jeff Tallent, Hamlin (Monika) Tallent and Steve (Phyllis) Tallent; one sister, Jennie (Ken) Boyes; and special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Fern Tallent; and brother, Grayson Tallent.

The family thanks the many caring people who assisted and supported Carmen during recent years, especially Jessi.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
