GLEN ALLEN, Mo. -- Destinee Nicole Koenig, 16, of Sikeston, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023, in Glen Allen.

She was born Dec. 7, 2006, in Cape Girardeau to Tucker and Amanda Shipley Koenig.

Destinee, grandmother Susan and cousin James all passed away suddenly due to a devastating tornado.

Destinee attended New Madrid (Missouri) High School, where she was a 10th grade student. She was an animal person and had a tender spot for all animals, especially cats and dogs. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She always had her phone ready to take a selfie. Anyone who was beside her was part of a selfie before they knew it. She loved her "squish-mellows" and the "Nightmare Before Christmas". Destinee loved spending time with her boyfriend, Michael McCoy. Destinee and Michael were together when they passed, suddenly.

She is survived by her parents, Tucker Koenig of Doniphan, Missouri, and Amanda Ellis of Sikeston; brother, Atticus Koenig of Jackson; sister, Sophia Koenig of Bonne Terre, Missouri; maternal grandfather, David (Tracy) Shipley; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Destinee was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Susan (Glenn Burcks) Sullivan, and her paternal grandfather, Larry Koenig.

A funeral service for Destinee and memorial service for Susan and James will be held Monday, April 10, at Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, Missouri. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Due to limited seating for this service, it is encouraged that everyone attends the services in a timely manner. Burial will follow at McGee Chapel Cemetery near Glen Allen.

It is requested that donations be made to Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill to help with the sudden passing of Destinee, Susan and James.
