While Doris and Glenn were raising their family on the Saupe family farm near Shawneetown, Doris fully devoted her time to being a wife, mother and homemaker. She worked at the Hosiery Mill in Jackson, as a cook at the Country Kettle and the Fruitland Auction Barn.

Doris enjoyed sewing, gardening and taking rides with Glenn on their four-wheeler in the evening. Many people will remember Doris' delicious homemade bread pudding.
