Bella Italia Restaurant in downtown Cape Girardeau has been sporting a closed and for sale sign in the window this week. The Southeast Missourian reached out to the owners for comment but did not hear back by presstime. The restaurant opened in 2003. It was rebuilt in 2005 following a fire caused by an improperly discarded cigarette. The Spanish Street eatery was briefly closed last fall because of equipment problems.
