BENTON, Mo. -- Wilford C. "Dush" Urhahn, 96, of Benton died Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 26, 1927, in New Hamburg, Missouri, to John Peter and Stella Schlitt Urhahn. He married Helen Fern Robison on May 8, 1960. She preceded him in death July 5, 1992.

Dush was a lifelong member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg and a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 6420 in Scott City. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Dush was an owner/operator in the trucking industry for his entire career, from his first Chevrolet truck in 1949 to his Kenworth in the mid-1990s. He was well known for his lime and rock hauling throughout the region.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Beth (Roy) Evans of Benton; loving companion, Betty Hunt of Benton; three grandchildren, Carie (John) Boswell of Scott City and Chris (Kyla) Evans and Justin Evans of Benton; and seven great-grandchildren, Jessica (Jay) Simmons, Dylan, Brett and Evan Boswell, Katelyn and Carson Evans and Hailey Evans.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, at St. Lawrence Church in New Hamburg.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, at the church, with the Rev. Daniel Belken as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
