George Houston Pyrtle, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, April 27, 2023, at his home.

He was born Dec. 28, 1929, in Centerville, Missouri, to James and Vivian Sisco Pyrtle. He and Mary Larkin were married July 18, 1951, at Piggott, Arkansas.

George served in the Army in the Korean War.

He retired from ABF Trucking as a truck driver. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Pyrtle of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Katherine Elliott of Cape Girardeau, Susan (Richard) Gentry of Cape Girardeau, Karen (Terry) Oliver of Patton, Missouri, and Patti Collier of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Kristen Pyrtle, Summer Rister, Jacob Gentry, Courtney Pyrtle, Justin Oliver, Keighley Russell and Colby Collier; and six great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Pyrtle; a half brother, Jeffrey Pyrtle; and a half sister, Anna O'Neal.

There will be no services.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
