Shawn Christopher McCormick, 60, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 1, 1962, in Cape Girardeau, son of David and Betty Jean Hicks McCormick Sr. In his early years, Shawn worked for Beverly Floor Cleaning Co. and later as a self-employed handyman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and anything else to do with outdoors and nature. Shawn loved the simple things in life...

Shawn Christopher McCormick, 60, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 1, 1962, in Cape Girardeau, son of David and Betty Jean Hicks McCormick Sr. In his early years, Shawn worked for Beverly Floor Cleaning Co. and later as a self-employed handyman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and anything else to do with outdoors and nature. Shawn loved the simple things in life.

Loving survivors include his mother, Betty of Cape Girardeau; seven siblings, twin sisters, Marilyn Marchi of Chicago and Carolyn Smith of Union, Tennessee, David McCormick Jr. of Cape Girardeau, Kimberley Davidson of Cape Girardeau, Angela Osborne of Cape Girardeau, Vincent McCormick of Belleville, Illinois and Jason (Myra) McCormick of Scott City; nieces and nephew, Jesse (Danny) Davidson of Cape Girardeau, Kimberley Stillings of Marble Hill, Missouri, and David Osborne of Okinawa, Japan; and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, David McCormick Sr.; nephew, James Paul Davidson and his pet companion, Dixie.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Southeast Missouri Pets.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Crain Funeral Home.
