ADVANCE, Mo. — Verna Lee Veale, 92, of Advance passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Delta South Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center in Sikeston, Missouri. She was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Gordonville, the daughter of Clarence and Hilda Wessell Eggimann. Verna and Cecil Veale were united in marriage June 5, 1953, in Jacksonville, Florida, and he preceded her in death June 7, 2019...

ADVANCE, Mo. — Verna Lee Veale, 92, of Advance passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Delta South Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center in Sikeston, Missouri.

She was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Gordonville, the daughter of Clarence and Hilda Wessell Eggimann. Verna and Cecil Veale were united in marriage June 5, 1953, in Jacksonville, Florida, and he preceded her in death June 7, 2019.

Verna had worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator and later for the U.S. Census Bureau. Later, she spent many years as a homemaker, known as an awesome cook. She was known for her homemade baked bread and rolls. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville. She had also been a member of Hello Dollies.

Survivors include two sons, Frank Veale of Arlington, Texas, and Ronnie (Kim) Veale of Advance; two daughters, Gail (Rodney) Redman of East Prairie, Missouri, and Patti (Jerry) Stageman of Jacksonville; two brothers, Jerry (Linda) Eggimann of Advance and Weldon (Shirley) Eggimann of Advance; a sister, Donna Smith of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Bronson Veale, Michelle (Seokho) Redman Moon, Liz Ingram, Aaron (Jocelynn) Veale, Monica (Ismail) VeYes and Angela Veale; a great-grandchild, Julian; a stepgrandson, Darrell (Natalie) Haney; and a stepgranddaughter, Sarah Flores and her children, Andrew, Victor and Lauren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil Veale; grandson, Cody Redman; and granddaughter, Felicia Veale.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the church, with the Rev. Daniel Warner officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Gordonville.

In lieu of flowers, the family urges memorial donations to Saxony Lutheran High School or Lutheran Hour Ministries at www.lhm.org.
