Southeast Missouri State University will host a concert of bluegrass music from Michael and Jennifer McLain & the Banjocats on Sunday, Oct. 29, at the River Campus in Cape Girardeau.

The concert will feature high energy banjo and fiddle music that reflects musical culture in Kentucky and Virginia, warmhearted songs to lift people up and specialty instrumentals that show love for the artistry of music.

According to their website, www.banjocats.com, husband Michael and wife Jennifer both grew up touring and performing in musical families and are both banjo players. They have been playing together since their first date.

Together, they have performed in 27 states from New York to California, and in Canada, and have appeared at the Grand Ole Opry.

The McLains will be joined by Shad Cobb on fiddle and Kori Caswell on upright bass and harmony vocals.

Songs on their set list include "Rocky Road Blues", "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" and "When the Saints Go Marching In".

The concert will begin at 3 p.m. in Shuck Music Recital Hall in the Seminary Building on the River Campus, located at 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau.
