Cape Girardeau police said a Black male suspect allegedly shot someone Tuesday, Oct. 24. Cape Girardeau police said a Black male suspect allegedly shot someone Tuesday, Oct. 24.

A release from Cape Girardeau Police Department said officers responded to the 600 block of South Ellis Street shortly after 4:30 p.m. on a shots-fired call.

In the area of South Sprigg and Maple streets, they located a vehicle with bullet holes. They made contact with occupants of the vehicle and found one of them with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital.

Witnesses at the scene said the suspect ran from the scene.

Police also found a parked vehicle and residence in the 600 block of South Ellis Street with an apparent bullet hole.

As of Tuesday evening, no suspect had been taken into custody.
