CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Stephen Curtis McClard, son of the late Harvey William and Hettie Gertrude Jaco McClard, was born June 7, 1953, in Cape Girardeau. He departed this life Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at his home in Chaffee, surrounded by family and friends, at the age of 70 years.

On July 26, 1975, he was united in marriage to Donna McClard in Delta.

He was an employee of Southern Pacific Railroad for 32 years, member of First Baptist Church in Delta, member of Trinity Methodist Church committee and served on the board for Delta Community Center. He also served as a volunteer firefighter on Delta Fire Department for many years.

Stephen took great honor in serving his church and community. He was a jack of all trades. He especially loved traveling to Texas with family. He was extremely proud of his grandson.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Jill (Howard) Walther of Houston and Erica (Larry Scott) Dunning of Burfordville; two sisters, Julie McAlister of Chaffee and Mary Moreland of Jackson; a grandson, R.J. Vandeven; and other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by one brother, William Harvey McClard.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at First Baptist Church in Delta.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the church, with the Rev. Randy Conn officiating. Interment will be at Trinity Methodist Cemetery -- The Little German Church and Cemetery -- near Whitewater.
