Dennis Edgar Lohmann, 79, of Perryville passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis.

He was born Sept. 28, 1944, in Farrar to Otto and Edna Roth Lohmann.

Dennis and Sandra K. Schilling were married Feb. 19, 1966, at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown for 58 years.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Dennis was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, as well as American Legion Post No. 133 and the Perry County Sportsman Club.

He worked in St. Louis for 21 years as a warehouse supervisor for Kroger. He then came to Perryville and worked as a bartender for American Legion for many years. Dennis served as Perry County commissioner and worked as an insurance adjuster for Arnsberg Insurance Co. He also had a small business on the side doing heating, cooling and electrical work.

Dennis and Sandy enjoyed many vacations together, lots of them cruises. He found time to enjoy golfing, fishing and hunting with family and friends. Dennis always had a joke or story that brought smiles and laughter to many who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Lohmann; daughter, Catherine (Shannon) Stumpe of Perryville; son, Daniel (Julie) Lohmann of Evansville, Illinois; brother, Delbert (Carol) Lohmann of St. Louis; sister, Alice Hecht of Altenburg; brother-in-law, Barney Schlichting; six grandchildren, Blake, Megan (Ryan) Gordan, Hannah (Izayah) Miller, Nathaniel Lohmann, Jordan (Trystin French) Stumpe and Brendan (Mackenzie Laurentius) Stumpe; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Scarlett; and many nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Arleen Schlichting; brother, Edward Lohmann; grandchild, Katie Lynn Stumpe; brother-in-Law, Elmer Hecht; and sister-in-law, Bernice Versemann-Lohmann.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024, at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville and will continue from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at the church, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Tuition Assistance Fund or Saxony Lutheran High School.
