Filing for political office in Perry County opened Tuesday, Feb. 27, for the Tuesday, Aug. 6, primary election.

All the candidates who filed for offices registered as Republicans. The offices are associate commissioner District 1 and District 2, sheriff, assessor, public administrator, coroner and surveyor.

The candidates filing for office are:

  • associate commissioner District 1 — Jay Wengert;
  • associate commissioner District 2 — Damon Lee Dillard, Keith Hoehn, Rocky Schumer and Douglas Martin;
  • sheriff — Jason Klaus;
  • assessor — Charles H. Triller;
  • public administrator — Janelle French Moore;
  • coroner — Meghan Ellis and William “Bill” Bohnert;
  • surveyor — Timothy J. Baer.

The primary election filing closes at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 26.
