Clifford Lee Bollinger, 85, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Bollinger County, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Clifford Bollinger

Clifford Lee Bollinger, 85, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Bollinger County, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 9, 1938, in Marble Hill to Leo L. and Lillie Pierce Bollinger.

Raised in Bollinger County, Clifford was saved and baptized at Hahn Chapel Church. He was a 1956 graduate of Lutesville High School.

Clifford and Shirley Davenport were married Nov. 9, 1956. They had one son, Randal. They had been married 48 years when Shirley passed away March 25, 2005.

Clifford and Barbara Karraker were married Nov. 10, 2010. She survives.

He worked 16 years as an inspector for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis. When the family moved to Jackson, Clifford worked for the city of Jackson and Ocean Plastics. He retired as a private contractor for AT&T, but continued to operate rental property.

Loving survivors include his wife of 13 years, Barbara Bollinger of Cape Girardeau; a son, Randal "Randy" (Sue) Bollinger of Sunset Hills; two grandsons, Brandon Bollinger of St. Louis and Austin Bollinger of San Antonio, Texas; and a sister, Helen Martinson.

Clifford was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley; and three sisters, Eula Bridges, Lela Upchurch and Leola Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Jimmie Corbin will conduct the funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

If considering a memorial, the family suggests St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
