ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis goaltender Fred Brathwaite stopped 13 shots to help the Blues to a 2-0 exhibition victory over the Nashville Predators on Friday night.

Al MacInnis and Christian LaFlamme scored power play goals to pace the winning attack. The St. Louis defense helped Brathwaite by killing off four penalties

St. Louis improves to 2-2 in exhibition play. Nashville is 2-4-0-1.

The shutout was the first of the exhibition season for Brathwaite, who was acquired from Calgary in the off-season. Brathwaite lost his first two games as a member of the Blues.

MacInnis tallied on a blast from the blue line late in the opening period. He took a perfect pass from St. Louis newcomer Doug Weight before blasting a hard shot past Nashville netminder Tomas Vokoun.

LaFlamme deflected a shot from Alexander Khavanov for the Blues second goal at 18:12 of the second period.

Nashville managed just nine shots on goal through the game's first 45 minutes.

St. Louis winger Scott Mellanby suffered a fractured jaw when hit by a puck early in the first period. Blues officials said his condition will be re-evaluated Saturday morning.
