Three killed, one wounded in shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Three people were killed and another critically injured after all four were shot in the head while at home in their apartment.

Springfield police have made no arrests in the shooting deaths of 20-year-old Adam Widener; his mother, 43-year-old Margaret Maledy; and 22-year-old Sabrina Cole, who also was a resident of the apartment.

Sangamon County Coroner Susan Boone said the three victims each died of at least one gunshot wound in the head.

Eric Widener, 22, who is also Maledy's son, was in critical condition Monday at a Springfield hospital and was also shot in the head, police said.
