Bears lose Robinson for remainder of season

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Bears wideout Marcus Robinson will miss the rest of the season with torn ligaments in his left knee.

Robinson, Chicago's leading receiver the past two seasons, will have surgery within two weeks to repair two torn ligaments. His recovery is expected to take up to a year.

Robinson was injured during the second quarter of Sunday's 24-0 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Robinson had 738 yards receiving last season despite missing the last four games with a back injury. He was a Pro Bowl alternate in 1999, when he set a Bears record with 1,400 yards receiving.

Earnhardt's crew chief fined $25,000

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. gets to keep his victory in the EA Sports 500 at Talladega, but crew chief Tony Eury Sr. was fined $25,000 Monday by NASCAR for a rule violation.

The team's No. 8 Chevrolet was found to be 1/8-inch lower than the minimum height of 51 inches during a routine postrace inspection Sunday.

The discrepancy was announced several hours after the race and long after Earnhardt and the most of his team had left the Alabama track for their North Carolina homes.

The team had no comment Monday.

NASCAR also fined Larry Carter, crew chief for Todd Bodine's No. 66 Ford, $10,000 and placed him on probation until the end of the season for storming into the pit of Kevin Harvick.

The wedding could not be immediately confirmed by the judge's office or the Clark County Marriage Bureau.

A Clark County clerk's office spokeswoman said it takes the office about three days to record a marriage license.

It is not known where the wedding took place or if the couple plans to go on a honeymoon.

"They want to keep all that private," Wilson said.

Prep players suspended after failing polygraph

DUNLAP, Ill. -- Seven Dunlap High football players accused of attending a party where alcohol was served failed a lie detector test and will be suspended from the team for the rest of the season, just in time for the state playoffs.

Officials said three other athletes -- two football players and a soccer player -- passed a polygraph examination and will not face punishment. The pair of football players will be eligible for Saturday's Class 4A state playoff game against Addison Driscoll and any additional games.
