Thelma Davis

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Funeral for Thelma Irene Davis of Sikeston will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. Johnny Hester and Pat Hogan will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Davis, 81, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.

She was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Pocahontas, Ark., daughter of Rufus Lee and Sarah Ann Shaver Vermilye Sr. She and Joe Reginald Davis were married Nov. 16, 1939, in Ingram, Ark.

Davis worked 17 years in the food service department at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford, Ill. She was a member of North Park Church of Christ in Rockford.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Arnold Davis of Sikeston; two brothers, Rufus Vermilye Jr. of Pocahontas, Harold Shaver of Sikeston; and a sister, Lois Hubbert of Benton, Mo.
