BENTON, Mo. -- Maurice Beardslee, 86, of Benton died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 7, 1914, at Oran, Mo., son of Paul and Frances Groves Beardslee. He and Elizabeth Garber were married June 18, 1940, in Detroit, Mich.

Beardslee had worked at Chrysler Auto in Detroit. He was a member of Benton Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas Beardslee of Benton; a brother, Charles Beardslee of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Karen Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery at Commerce, Mo.
