CAIRO, Ill. -- Virginia V. Karraker, 82, of Cairo died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. She was born April 26, 1919, in Dongola, Ill., daughter of Arthur Orely and Sadie Susan Sowers Karraker. Karraker was a registered nurse with the Southern Seven Health Department. CAIRO, Ill. -- Virginia V. Karraker, 82, of Cairo died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

She was born April 26, 1919, in Dongola, Ill., daughter of Arthur Orely and Sadie Susan Sowers Karraker.

Karraker was a registered nurse with the Southern Seven Health Department. She was a member of the Church of Christ, the Cairo Business and Professional Women's Club and the Illinois State Nurse's Association.

Survivors include a sister, Marie Henshaw Harvick of Cairo.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Ron Gulley officiating. Burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery in Dongola.

At the request of the family, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in memory of Miss Karraker.
