Jackson - The Rev. Dean Heady is installed as new pastor of First Assembly of God Church, Highway 72 and Dallas; speaker at ceremony is the Rev. L. Jack Moore, secretary/treasurer of Southern Missouri District of Assemblies of God in Springfield.

Congregation of First Assembly of God in Cape Girardeau has announced arrival of their new pastor and his family; the Rev. Gary Brothers and his wife, Rose, and daughters, Jennifer and Julie, come to Cape Girardeau from Providence, Ky., where Brothers pastored eight years.

25 years ago: Nov. 10, 1976

In Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri, forest rangers are watching, waiting and occasionally sniffing breeze for hint of smoke; this year's drought has turned state and national forests into tinder boxes, and even rain and snow forecast for later in week may not ease fire threat.

Dedication of Southeast Missouri Regional Crime Laboratory's new home and conference emphasizing role of university in 1980s are on tap at Southeast Missouri State University this weekend; Missouri's director of public safety, Michael D. Garrett, will be speaker Sunday at lab dedication ceremony; lab was established in 1970 in Magill Hall of Science, and move was completed this fall to expand quarters in university-owned structure at 714 N. Henderson.

50 years ago: Nov. 10, 1951

Kiwanians elected William Lehne, manager of Pipkin-Boyd-Neal Packing Co., to be president of Kiwanis Club for next year at their weekly meeting last night; he succeeds A.S. Reed; Herman Keller was elected vice president, and A.H. McNeely was re-elected treasurer.

Common Pleas Courthouse Park comes alive with Southeast Missouri youth in morning, when Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from throughout district assemble there for annual fall round-up; around 1,500 boys attend event; in afternoon, scouts assemble on Lorimier Street and march to Houck Stadium, where they are guests of college at football game between Indians and Springfield.

75 years ago: Nov. 10, 1926

Cape Girardeau City Council has taken official notice of construction of new Teachers College athletic stadium and building on Houck Field and has by resolution vacated that part of Maud Avenue which extended into territory being used for stadium.

J.S. Koester, who for several years has been working to perfect concrete tiling to equal marble, has finally succeeded and recently returned from Washington, where he has had his process patented.
