Doris' Antiques & Collectibles has moved down the street, from 631 to 627 Good Hope.

Doris Bengley, who started selling used clothing in the retail market more than 20 years ago, has shifted the clothing to the back burner, and is now concentrating more on antiques and collectibles.

"I still have some clothing," said Bengley, "but it's mostly vintage."

The shelves in Doris' new store are now filled with antique and collectible items -- toys, books, glass, etc.

Bengley is looking to new hours in her new location -- Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday by chance.

Bengley opened Doris' Flea Market in June 1981.

"I had worked in a grocery store at Chaffee," she said. "I went to a couple of giant used-clothing sales, and came away with six truckloads of clothes, and I was in business. The extent of antiques at my shop then was then was a two-foot shelf full of small vases."

When the new location opened recently, Bengley had only one rack of clothing, and numerous shelves of collectibles.

The grand opening will continue through November, said Steven Yenicek, sales manager at the store, located at 45 N. Main.

Yenicek has more than 15 years of experience in furniture sales, including nine years at Du'Shell's Furniture.

The store is owned by Ed and Shelly Bishop of Bonne Terre, who operate a story there.

Eldon Nattier is general manager of the store here.

The new store specializes in a full line of both new and contemporary furniture items, including a line of replicated antique furniture.

"And we can special order furniture," said Yenicek.

Main Street Furniture is open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

New consignment shop opens in CapeAnnie Kate's, a consignment and resale shop, opened last weekend at 709 Broadway in Cape Girardeau.

Items include clothing from infant through men and women, children's toys, and kids furniture.

"We have strollers, high chairs, bedding,and lots of children's books," said Debbie Petzoldt, owner of the new business.

Meyer Supply Co. Expands to IllinoisMeyer Supply Co., headquartered at 620 Good Hope in Cape Girardeau, has opened a new store at 801 Skyline Drive, Marion, Ill.

The new store is the third for Meyer Supply, which also has an operation at 109 Lakeside Drive, Sikeston.
