SIKESTON, Mo. -- For the American Cancer Society, Christmas is a time to give to others. Not only will the organization's upcoming Christmas tea give the community a chance to visit with friends, but the proceeds will go toward funding various local programs the society offers cancer patients and their families.

Planned for 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Scott, organizers hope people will take advantage of a casual afternoon. The cost is a $25 donation at the door the afternoon of the tea.

"The tea used to be in the spring and then several years ago we moved it to Christmas," said Cheryl Krebs, chairman. "It's a fund raiser to help fund some of the local things that we do like the Look Good-Feel Good program and the nutritional supplements that we give out. It goes to support all of our programs here."

"We will have hors d'oeuvres that will be served from RSVP Catering who catered it last year," Krebs said.
