Teacher's wife gets five years of probation in sex case

ST. LOUIS -- The wife of an elementary school teacher received five years of probation for sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy.

Becky Williams, 31, of Lake Saint Louis, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy and two counts of first-degree statutory rape in St. Charles County Circuit Court. She had previously agreed to testify against her husband in exchange for probation, then he pleaded guilty last month.

She previously admitted performing sex acts with the boy in 1995 and 1996, when the boy was 11 years old and her husband's student. She said her husband watched.

The offenses took place at the couple's home.

As part of a plea negotiation, Becky Williams also testified that she watched her husband, Michael Williams, 33, perform sex acts with two girls between 1995 and 2000.

On Friday, St. Louis Circuit Court Judge Ellsworth Cundiff sentenced Becky Williams to 10 years in prison on each of the four counts, with the sentences to run concurrently. He then suspended the sentences for the five years of probation.

Her husband, Michael Williams, 33, pleaded guilty on Nov. 15 to 17 of the 42 charges against him -- all but one involving the girls. That count covered the incident in which prosecutors said he encouraged his wife to perform a sex act on the boy. Michael Williams was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
