Today is final day for Toybox donations

Santa's sacks are lined up across the floor at the warehouse building the Cape Girardeau Jaycees use to sort toys for the annual Toybox delivery.

Blocks for infants, musical toys for infants and toddlers, games for older children and gifts for both older boys and girls are still needed to finish meeting the requests of the 513 families who applied for help from Toybox.

Toybox is a joint program of the Cape Girardeau Jaycees and the Southeast Missourian that provides gifts to needy children up to age 12.

Games like Jenga and Sorry made 11-year-old Dustin's Christmas list. Basketballs, a skateboard helmet and pads, and anything to do with Harry Potter were top of the list for 11-year-old Barry.

Nine-year-old Cynthia wants a dollhouse and Barbies. Michael, 10, wants a race car, planes or model trucks. Bobby, also 10, would like collectible car sets.

Kenny, 10, wants something he can use outdoors when his Scout group takes trips, and he likes baseball.

Drop-off locations for new, unused toys are Southeast Missourian offices, AAA Travel Agency, First National Bank, Firstar Bank, Check Please, Bank of America, Sanders True Value, Bank of Missouri, Capaha Bank, Union Planters Bank, Alliance Bank, Wehrenberg Theatres, Commerce Bank at the Cape LaCroix Road location only, Westfield Shoppingtown West Park and SunCom Wireless.

New toys must be delivered to the drop-off sites before Thursday, the night of delivery. Jaycee Santas will make deliveries between 6:30 and 9 p.m.
