SIKESTON, Mo. -- Audie Davis Jr., 76, of Sikeston died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born May 14, 1925, in DeKalb, Miss., the son of Audie and Geneva Alexander Davis Sr. He married Rose Dale Lawrence on Jan. 15, 1955. She survives.

He had lived in Missouri since 1946. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church at Canalou, Mo. He also was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He also is survived by two sons, Audie M. Davis of Waukegan, Ill., and Gerald A. Davis of Silver Springs, Md.; six daughters, Geneva Harden and Sylvia Davis, both of Minneapolis, Minn., Betty Green, Maxine Holloway, Vicki A. Davis and Felicia A. Davis, all of Sikeston; nine brothers, John Davis of Detroit, Mich., Elmer Davis, Jacob Bishop and Nolan Bishop, Sam A. Bishop and Samuel B. Bishop, all of Chicago, Norman Davis of Sikeston, Willie Davis of St. Louis, Ellis Bishop of Niles, Mich.; five sisters, Ocsie Oliver of Detroit, Mich., Ethel Holloman and Elsie Bishop, both of St. Louis, My Neal Cain and Pauline Brown, both of Essex, Mo.; 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ in Sikeston.

The Rev. Major M. Lucious, pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston, will officiate.

Burial with military rites will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.

Williams-Farr & Purnell Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
