HILLSBORO, Mo. -- A man accused of intentionally setting the house fire that killed his wife and stepdaughter will not face the death penalty, prosecutors said Thursday.
The deadline passed for Jefferson County prosecutors to seek capital punishment for Eric Monroe, 38, of Fenton. Instead, Monroe faces a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole.
