Where's our coverage? I'D LIKE to make a comment about the Missourian. I just want to know why they won't cover the New Madrid County Central Eagles. You know, here's one of the best basketball teams in Class 3A for three years in a row. I don't know why you want to exclude them. I'm from Cape, but I keep track of all these good teams and I don't know why the Missourian will not record what goes on...

I'D LIKE to make a comment about the Missourian. I just want to know why they won't cover the New Madrid County Central Eagles. You know, here's one of the best basketball teams in Class 3A for three years in a row. I don't know why you want to exclude them. I'm from Cape, but I keep track of all these good teams and I don't know why the Missourian will not record what goes on.

Editor's note: Our focus remains on the 21 high schools in our area of distribution, which is primarily Cape Girardeau, Scott, Bollinger and Perry counties. We include information on teams from outside that area when we consider it of particular interest to our readers.

TO THE Jackson fan who thought the statistics from the Jackson-Poplar Bluff girls district game showed bias: Maybe what the boxscore didn't show was how many fouls Jackson committed at the end of the game to stop the clock. If you really want to look at statistics look at this one: Poplar Bluff beat Jackson three times this season. I believe that stat tells a lot. Also, Poplar Bluff went all the way to the state final four. Is that because of a biased district? But you're right on one account, which is that some people never change. There will always be some fans looking for excuses for why their team lost when they should be praising the team for the fine courage and effort they displayed in the district playoffs against a top-ranked team. The seniors on the Poplar Bluff team have played together as a group with AAU along with regular-season ball for over seven years. They have worked hard to get to the top. Just ask any of the area coaches what they think. Give these lady athletes credit where credit has been earned, not given to them.

Delta did its best

IN CASE you're wondering, Delta's girls didn't maliciously run up the score against Risco. The starters were out for most of the game and we weren't shooting three-pointers. I think we handled it in a sportsmanship manner.

Congratulations, 'Dogs

THE NOTRE Dame Bulldogs deserve every success that is given to them. In the fall, every single sport won districts. And in the winter, the boys basketball team went down to the wire in the district championship, without their leading scorer, Travis Siebert. The girls, state contenders for the second straight year, won by 40 in their district game. Other sports are also doing well. These players are amazing people, both on and off the court. Notre Dame athletics is a major part of their life, and the coaches regard them as family. Congratulations on a great season, boys. And to the girls: See you at the Hearnes Center.
