OLD APPLETON, Mo. -- Ervin J. Bodenschatz, 93, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2002, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, Mo., from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown, Mo.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The Rev. Paul Winningham will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bodenschatz was born Feb. 10, 1909, at Old Appleton, son of Charles A. and Bertha I. Hoffman Bodenschatz. He and Hilda Boehme were married Oct. 27, 1935.

Loving survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Sandy Bodenschatz of St. Louis, Ted and Beth Bodenschatz of Clemmons, N.C.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Harlen Weber and Ruth and Jack Mirly, all of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Mr. Bodenschatz farmed many years in the Old Appleton community, retiring in 1975. He retired from Perry Crating at Frohna, Mo., in 1982. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and formerly served on the finance and Sunday School boards. He had also served on the public school board at Old Appleton.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Grace Lutheran Church, St. Paul Lutheran School, St. Paul Radio Broadcast, or the Lutheran Home.
