Woody Williams allowed three hits over five shutout innings while Albert Pujols and Mike Coolbaugh each homered, leading the Cardinals to a 5-2 victory over the Red Sox.

Williams, who has pitched nine scoreless innings in his past two starts, struck out five with no walks for St. Louis.

Pujols led off the fourth with a homer to left field. Coolbaugh hit a two-run homer in the seventh.

Shea Hillenbrand had a solo home run in the seventh for Boston.

Boston starter Darren Oliver left the game after the first inning with a bruised right palm suffered on a Pujols liner up the middle.
